PTEEL Secures Letter of Intent for CB Power Trade
NOV 02 2026
Power Trade and Eco Energy Limited (PTEEL) has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) for cross-border power trade from the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation (MoEWRI), Government of Nepal. Dr. Jagadishwor Karmacharya, Secretary at MoEWRI, handed over the LOI to Mrs. Bhawani Rana, Chairman of PTEEL, on 30th October, 2026.
While the LOI itself doesn’t allow PTEEL to undertake power trading, PTEEL expects the LOI to lead to a power trading license. Once licensed, PTEEL plans to trade electricity across borders in South Asia, including exporting Nepal’s surplus during the wet season. Its objectives as a trader are to bring competition to power trading, improve market liquidity, and maintain professional standards in contracting, scheduling and settlement.
PTEEL aims to become a leading power trading company in Nepal. Through regional electricity trade, it seeks to support the clean energy transition in South Asia and contribute to Nepal’s economic growth.
